Directions

To the Youth Hostel from the City Centre & Rail Station. We recommend getting a taxi, which will cost about 4 or 5 and get you here quickly - cheapest when shared between friends.Without your luggage it's a pleasant stroll back into the City. There are two main walking routes from the rail station to the hostel. The Riverside Route 0.9 miles or 20 minutes, along a beautiful but unlit path. Directions: Exit the rail station via the main exit and turn left. At the traffic lights, go left onto Leeman Road. Facing the bridge over the road, cross to the rightside of the street and walk along the alleyway till you get to the river path. Turn left out of the alleyway then immediate right across the bridge. Do a U-turn right back under the bridge, walking along the riverside path with river on your left. Once past 2 rowing sheds, the hostel is signed to the right near a road bridge. Go up the hill and you will see the driveway sign to the hostel on the opposite side of the road and to your right. Alternatively there is an On-Road Route, busy well lit route 1.2 miles or 25 minutes. Directions: Exit the rail station via the main entrance and turn left. Follow the flow of traffic through the city walls. Cross over Lendal Bridge walking up Museum Street towards the Minster. At the traffic lights, turn left onto St Leonard's Place. At the next traffic lights, passing the Art Gallery on your left, turn left walking along Bootham (road). Follow this road until there is fork to the left of the grassed area (Clifton Green). After rejoining the main road, the hostel is on the right along Water End. Look for the YHA York International poster at the exit from the rail station booking hall. The poster has a map showing you how to find us. By Bus. Take the No2 Green Line Park & Ride bus from Station Ave (by Rail Station) or from Museum Gardens to Clifton Green. A 5 minute bus ride costing just over 1.00. Or take a taxi from the station forecourt, costing approx 4 or 5.By Car. If you are coming into York by car it is best to come in from the North via the ring road (A1237), then come into York on either the A59 or the A19. The Youth Hostel is on Water End, next to the River Ouse at Clifton Bridge.
