The lodge offers many other facilities, such as nocturnal touring, boating, hiking, fishing (including charters) and sailing. A landscaped saltwater pool, tennis court, children's games room, tour desk and bicycle hire. This hotel is well recommended and offers great value for money. (1007IT) Built in the late 1800's Kangaroo Island Lodge is set in a natural landscaped garden of native Australian gums & shrubs. Building materials & colour schemes have been carefully chosen to harmonise with the natural surroundings. Positioned to take advantage of the panoramic water views, every room beckons tantalising views, whether you choose to wake to the serene oceanfront, bushland bird chorus or our cool saltwater pool. Kangaroo Island Lodge is 25 minutes from Penneshaw and is sheltered in a small fishing village overlooking the American River Bay. The Lodge is set on 7 acres over the bay at American River, epitomizing the pristine and delicate environment of Kangaroo Island, which sits just off the coast of South Australia. Centrally located with convenient access to the airport, ferry terminal, safe berth harbour, the main centre of commerce and all of the Islands tourist attractions, Kangaroo Island Lodge is a perfect destination.

Directions

Kingscote Airport is 25 minutes from the lodge. An air flight takes approximately thirty minutes each way. The lodge offers an airport shuttle. If you are not connecting with either a tour or a rental car, you will need an airport shuttle to take you to the township.The "Sealion 2000" terminal at Cape Jervis is 80 miles /130 kilometers from Adelaide, takes 50 minutes to cross to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island, and is a further 37 miles /60 kilometers drive to reach Kingscote, the main provincial town with most facilities

RestaurantThe Lodge Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner and specialises in serving local cuisine and wines from Kangaroo Island. There is a great selection with a daily changing special served by local staff in a beautiful surrounding. There is a fresco dining weather permitting. This restaurant is popular with locals and tourists alike. There is also a large BBQ area if guests would like to cook their own dinner or have the hotel chef do the cooking for you. A special feather unique to KI is watching the amazing flock of Pelicans being hand fed while you enjoy a Full Lodge Breakfast with eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and KI's famous sheep's yoghurt on the foreshore right out the front of the Lodge.
