"Not my favorite hostel experience - let's just say I wouldn't stay there again, but when you are paying very little for a large dorm, these are the things you have to expect." source Hostelworld

"It was a great place to rest your head for a couple of nights but our 12 bed dorm only had one bathroom which got to be a bit of a hassle." source Hostelworld

"These are the only things that I would critique, and I would recommend this hostel due to the location and standard of rooms." source Hostelworld

"if you want to visit london or just have fun in this wonderful city this hostel is a great place to stay." source Hostelworld

"I was in a 8-bed dorm ensuite, which I can recommend. Overall cleanliness could be improved." source Hostelworld

  • Clean: Rating of 3.2 out of 5

"There were lots of nice people in our room, the bathroom was always clean, it was neither too hot nor too cold in either the shower or the room itself and nobody stole anything ;) The location nevertheless is by far the best thing about this hostel." source Hostelworld

"Rooms and sheets very clean, hot water throughout the whole day with pressure, good breakfast (cereals, REAL orange juice, French toast with jam and butter, coffee and tea; held b/w 7." source Hostelworld

"+good location, right across hyde park +close to 2 tube station, bus station right in front of the door +room/bath were clean -charge for secruity lockers (1." source Hostelworld

"The hostel rooms were quite clean but the fridge in the kitchen was terrable some food was in there with expirery dates froma few months ago." source Hostelworld

"Stayed here a couple of times, easy access by public transport, and although a little worn the rooms are always clean and comfortable." source Hostelworld

  • Service: Rating of 3.3 out of 5

"Don't expect silver service, but expect to get more than adequate service." source Hostelworld

"Clean rooms, great location, and helpful staff." source Hostelworld

"Very basic services but in central location." source Hostelworld

"Daily service was good." source Hostelworld

  • Location: Rating of 4.4 out of 5

"They had a nice variety of rooms for all budgets (and I stayed in two different types) and loved how easily accessible this location was, particularly that it was close to two different tube stations. I also felt quite safe in this location." source Hostelworld

"the little fees like lockers and such add up quickly, but the internet cafe deal attached is the best in the area, and the bathrooms are pertty nice, considering." source Hostelworld

"if you're gonna buy daily ticket for metro it's ok because it's just beside a metro station but if you're gonna walk watch out because it's not near downtown." source Hostelworld

") but the staff were friendly and the location is brilliant - Tescos etc nearby a big asset and lovely being so close to Hyde Park." source Hostelworld

"the man in the reception was not very friendly good location, lift available, clean room & washroom valued for its low price =)." source Hostelworld

  • Value

"the matress was not comfortable and the walls are quite thin so you don't have much privacy (double private ensuite) but the position is great and the relation between price and quality is good." source Hostelworld

"You get what you pay for, but for the price of the royal bayswater you could most definitely find a more enjoyable and more comfortable (& cleaner) hostel in london." source Hostelworld

"Worth note that the breakfast for private rooms and dorms are different, for private room users there are full English breakfast which is value for money." source Hostelworld

"Price was right for a private room, just needing a bed to crash in, but that\'s all for good things I can say." source Hostelworld

"Cheap enough base cost, but they charge extra for the little things like lockers, luggage room, internet." source Hostelworld

  • Room

"I stayed for 8 nights and enjoyed so much my stay ,I was in a single room ,the room was a bit small but everything you need is found in the room, the location is perfect ,when i return back everyday from anywhere i go walking in the afternoon at the hyde park which was directly infront of the hote." source Hostelworld

More information on The Royal Bayswater Hostel

This is a simple, comfortable hotel in easy reach of all of London's major attractions within very easy walking distance of both Queensway and Bayswater underground stations. (03/05 LP) The main part of the building dates from the last century, but the reception area has been extended forward towards the road and somewhat resembles a shop front. The architecture is typical of the surrounding buildings. This hotel is situated directly on the busy Bayswater Road opposite Hyde Park and just one minute walk from Queensway underground station with its excellent connections to the West End. Whiteleys shopping centre is just a five minute walk from the hotel.

Rooms:

On average the rooms are small and in good condition, decorated in pale pastel colours with contrasting soft furnishings. The bathrooms are also in fair condition. Some rooms have lovely views over Hyde Park through large windows, though they are a little noisier because of the street below.

Directions

The hostel is conveniently situated for travel. It is next to Queensway tube station, close to Paddington Station for the '15 minute Heathrow Express' and is on a major bus route. Within minutes, by foot, you get to Kensington Palace, Notting Hill, Portabello Market, Marble Arch and Oxford Street.

Area

Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport.
