More information on Casa Morisca

We thought we couldn't top the charms of the two Inéses: Carmen de Santa Inés and Palacio de Santa Inés. Then we slept at Casa Morisca and fell in love again, fickle us. In the historic lower district of Albayzin, at the foot of the Alhambra, this house dates from the end of the 15th century. In the patio you can still see the remains of a Moorish pool and galleries supported by pilasters and columns. The interior was kept and restored, although the facade was given a 17th-century overlay. Bedrooms are individually decorated in an old style but with all modern comforts such as private bathrooms equipped with tub/shower combos. No hotel in Granada has been restored with such respect for its past life. For example, a turret lookout above the upper floor, which appeared in an 1859 photograph, was reconstructed accurately in 1998. All the 17th-century iron and carpentry work has been cleaned and restored. Local craftsmen worked only with the original materials of the building, including clay tiles and lime mortar. Facilities: Breakfast room; limited room service; laundry service/dry cleaning; rooms for those w/limited mobility Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice.
