The Best Western Gregory hotel is located 10 miles from downtown Manhattan, Brooklyn Army Terminal. 5 1/2 miles from the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn academy of music, Coney Island, and with in walking distance to the subway, FT. Hamilton army base & Verazzano Narrows Bridge. The building that is home to the Best Western Gregory was built in 1926 as the Hotel Madrid. It was one of Brooklyn's premiere luxury hotels.Just prior to World War II a gentleman named Mr. Gregarious purchased the Hotel and the name was changed to the Hotel Gregory.On May 1996, Sunburst Hospitality purchased the Hotel Gregory. After the hotel was completely renovated it was renamed the Comfort Inn. This was Brooklyns first Chained hotel.In November 2003, "Comfort Inn Gregory Hotel" was re-branded as the Best Western Gregory Hotel: Although the name has changed, the owners and operators, "Sunburst Hospitality" remains the same.
