Here's a fun night out. Part restaurant -- part menagerie of jungle with snakes, turtles, and crocs. The animals are well taken care of in stylish displays, and the restaurant has a cool, laid-back feel. The food is good (the animals are for viewing, not eating). Russian-owned and -managed, Snakehouse serves up a good selection of local dishes and standard international fare, anything from spaghetti to steak and sandwiches. Directions

Taxis are available from Funchal Airport to the hotel and cost approximately 30 EUR. There are regular buses to Funchal city centre which run every 30 minutes and cost around 3 EUR. From the airport join the freeway towards Funchal. Continue on this road until the Hospital/Funchal exit on the left hand side. At the roundabout take the second exit, keep on this road until the traffic lights then turn right. Continue straight ahead for approximately 250 metres and the entrance to the hotel is on the left.
