More information on Fattoria di Cavaglioni

This is the perfect place to choose if you want to enjoy Siena without missing the best part of Tuscany: its beautiful countryside!Fattoria di Cavaglioni is a beautiful farm of 220 hectares just 10 minutes by car from Siena, 25 minutes by bus and the bus stop is just in front of us. The bedrooms are located in an ancient fortress and in the typical farmhouse near it. The fortress dating back to the 13th Century became a luxurious Villa in the 18th Century and, together with the farmhouses it overlooks the green beautiful valley of our Farm. This part of Sienas province is one of the most gorgeous area in Tuscany! We are between town (at 50mt, shop and restaurant walking distance) and the countryside (you can hike or bike in our Farm), so you can really enjoy both situations! We are on bikers guide as a good starting point to visit the Montagnola senese and Val di Merse areas by bike.Since 18th century Cavaglioni has been owned by our family and the Villa still preserves intact the original furniture and paintings. You can easily visit Siena and we organize your wine or sight-seeing tours to Montalcino, San Gimignano, San Galgano, Volterra, Pienza, Montepulciano, ChiantiWe rent bikes; we can organize your activities like cooking class, italina language class, horseback-riding and more. There are huge green areas that our guests can use for walks, barbecue, relax, get cool at the little pool.In our Farms we produce a great Chianti red wine and extra-virgin olive oil that you can taste and purchase.Berenice and Anna Maria, daughter and mother, speak perfect English and French and are happy to welcome and help all travellers.Great breakfast is served in the morning! We also rent self-catering apartments for 2, 4, 6 or 8 people for short or long term, located near the Villa, all of them with fireplace. Weekly rentals are very convenient. At the Farm we organize unique music events and other art performances. Please advise about arrival time.Check-in 12pm to 7pm.NOTE: we are the same owners of Fattoria Palazzo di Piero at Montepulciano, check it out!

Directions

PLEASE! CALL US TO LET US KNOW AT WHAT TIME YOU ARRIVE, we are a guesthouse in a farm, not an hotel, so we would appreciate so much if we know around when we should expect you.By Bus: REMEMBER! IN ITALY YOU NEED TO BUY BUS TICKETS BEFORE YOU GET ON THE BUS, and remember that you need to ring the bell to make the bus stop.! Tickets are sold in many bars and Tabacchi shops. From Piazza Gramsci in Siena take n 30 to' San Rocco'.Following your bus ride:-the bus will leave Siena; -will cross three small towns: Costafabbri, Costalpino and Sant'Andrea. -next town will be 'San Rocco a Pilli'; -before entering town the bus will turn left toward a residential area of the town, will do a round about and then come back to the main road;- the bus will cross the town: along this main road there are just three bus stops. -You can either get off at the second one (in the square of town that you will recognize because there are few shops, bar, restaurant, flower shop..). In this case you'll be just 2 minutes walk from us..Continue walking along the main road untill you'll see the huge gate of the Villa..or..-or get off at the next stop which is right in front of the huge gate of our Villa Cavaglioni. To be more sure you don't miss the stop tell the driver you want to stop 'a San Rocco, in Piazza' (in the main sqare) or 'a San Rocco, alla fermata dopo la piazza' (the bus stop after the main square). When you have the huge gate of the Villa with statues of eagles in front of you, take the road on the right (Via del Poggetto) and enter the first gate on the left. If you arrive in Siena by train, from the train station most buses go to Piazza Gramsci from where our N 30 leaves. If you arrive in Siena by bus, usually buses arrive to Piazza Gramsci.By taxi: from train station or Siena center the cost is about 18-20 Euro.By car: IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE GPS, because it will take you to another Via del Poggetto 10 Km from us!!from Siena take the fastway to Grosseto (Siena-Grosseto SS223), after about 10 Km you left Siena, exit at 'San Rocco a Pilli.' After 1 Km and a half, turn left in Via del Poggetto and enter the first gate on the left.Call us if you have problems!
