More information on The Fowey Hotel
Established in 1882- the Fowey Hotel is a haven of tranquility resting on the bank of the Fowey River Estuary. This grand lady- a tribute to great Victorian architecture- majestically watches over the lazy yachts and quaint fishing boats as they creep in and out of the mouth of the river. The hotel is privately owned and renowned for its friendly- relaxed atmosphere and high standards. Many of the individually decorated en suite bedrooms offer panoramic views as do all of the public rooms.Set in beautifully landscaped gardens with an area just across the Esplanade- right by the waters edge. In this garden one can enjoy a traditional Cornish Cream Tea on lazy summer days or- alternatively- from the hotels pretty terrace overlooking the gardens and water. The restaurant has retained the coveted 2 AA Rosette award for exceptional food since 1997 and an extensive wine list compliments every menu- which changes daily. The menus offer a choice of dishes using the best of Cornish produce based on what is seasonally available- all of which are skillfully prepared by a very experienced kitchen brigade led by Master Chef Mark Griffiths. A comprehensive Bar menu is also available at lunchtimes and in the evenings.Ranked as one of the UKs most desirable locations- the pretty village of Fowey is a joy to wander around- with its myriad of charming shops and galleries- wonderful vistas and walks are all around- with plenty to see and do on land or water.
