The Banana Bungalow San Diego is San Diego's only beachfront hostel. Located in Pacific Beach, the Bungalow is perfectly situated for those looking to sample the fabled San Diego lifestyle. Take advantage of our swimming pool, the largest in the world, for snorkeling, scuba diving, and of course surfing. Rollerblade, skate, bike or stroll along the boardwalk. Find everything from budget grub to high-end cuisine among Pacific Beach's 150 restaurants, not to mention the myriad of clubs and bars that make this the nightlife destination for San Diego. Other area attractions include Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, Belmont Park and Black's Nude Beach, all easily accessible from the Banana Bungalow. If staying in is more your style, you'll find plenty to do here. The Bungalow features a kitchen, pantry, common room with cable TV, movies, internet, and most famously, 'The Deck.' On the deck you'll have the opportunity for sunbathing, kegstands and possibly even catch sight of the elusive 'Firey Phoenix'. Best of all is the chance to meet students and travellers from all over the world. Enjoy our FREE BBQ nights and FREE Sunsets! We offer dorm rooms housing between eight and twelve peolpe. Dorms are co-ed, each has lockers and its own bathroom. Rates include linens, continental breakfast and friendly, helpful, professional staff.Reservation ConditionsGuests must be 18+ years to stay. There are no upper age restrictions; however, we ask that you are at least young at heart. The average age of our guests is between 18-35 years old. Our shared rooms are co-ed and are designed for vacationing travelers. You must have an international passport or out of state ID to stay at the Banana Bungalow. You must also be able to show proof of on-going travel. A valid Visa or Mastercard is required to make a reservation.

ShuttleWe suggest XPRESS Shuttle for a cheap convenient way to reach us directly. If arriving by plane, walk out front of the airport to the shuttle stand. Here you can catch XPRESS Shuttle to our hostel. If you are arriving by Greyhound or Amtrak then please call XPRESS Shuttle on their free phone number 1 800 900 RIDE (7433) to arrange pick-up. XPRESS operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.XPRESS charges $13.00 per person. Please remember to tip the driver!Bus/TrolleyBanana Bungalow, San Diego is 1/2 block from the local bus service which thoroughly services all of San Diego and vicinity.From the GreyhoundCatch the #30 bus to Pacific Beach. It costs $2.25. You will need the right change as no change is given. Exit on Grand Avenue and Mission Blvd (last stop on Grand). From there it is a short 5 minute walk to the Banana Bungalow, taking a left on Mission Blvd. and then a right onto Reed Ave.From the AirportCatch the Airport Bus (#992) to Broadway. It costs $2.25. You will need the right change as no change is given. Ask the driver for a transfer ticket. Transfer at Broadway and 3rd to the #30 bus. Exit on Grand Avenue and Mission Blvd (last stop on Grand). From there it is a short 5 minute walk to the Banana Bungalow, taking a left on Mission Blvd. and then a right onto Reed Ave.From AmtrakWalk over to Broadway and 3rd. Catch the #30 bus to Pacific Beach. It costs $2.25. You will need the right change as no change is given. Exit on Grand Avenue and Mission Blvd (last stop on Grand). From there it is a short 5 minute walk to the Banana Bungalow, taking a left on Mission Blvd. and then a right onto Reed Ave.By carFrom North/SouthTake I-5 to Garnet. Follow Garnet west to Mission Blvd. (about 10 minutes, it is your last stop light) Make a left onto Mission Blvd. and then right on Reed Ave (2nd stop light). Drive up to the beach and the Banana Bungalow.From EastTake I-8W exiting at Sports Arena. Take a right and follow straight to Pacific Beach Drive. Turn Left onto Pacific Beach Drive and follow all the way to Mission Blvd. Turn right onto Mission Blvd. and then it is your first left onto Reed Ave. Follow it straight up to the beach and the Banana Bungalow.
