It was our intention to get a train from Valencia to Granada, but we hadn't counted on the Easter holidays and all the trains were full, so we hired a car... The drive was interesting, it was the first time Jonno had driven a left-hand drive car on the right side of the road, but he quickly got the hang of it - my job was to make sure we stayed on the right....!  The road was great, freeway the whole way, with lots of signage and the other drivers were also good, no crazy Mediterranean driving here. Finding the hotel in Granada was more difficult, lots of tiny streets with no signs, but we accidently stumbled across it in the end.

The next day we went to the main tourist attraction, the Alhambra, a fort/palace that sits high above the town.  The Alhambra is stunning and should be a must see if you go to Spain.  It was built by the Muslim rulers of Granada hundreds of years ago and is full of beautiful Islamic style palaces and gardens.  We spent hours there doing an audio tour and because there are limited tickets each day to the main palace, we missed out and had to come back again that night to see it.  The walk back up the hill was worth the effort as we got to see a gorgeous Islamic palace that was so opulent and finely detailed with its colourful tiled walls, carved walls, courtyards and so on, all lit with moonlight..
