So we decieded to head to one of the top 10 surf destinations in the world....G-LAND!!!  Sam didn't obviously didn't need much persuading.  So that same day, we took a bus at 11pm, then a ferry, and then continued through Java Jungle to the Southeastern tip of Java Island, arriving at 7:00am next day (one hour time change, ahead of Bali).  From the oceanside deck we could see in the distance KONG, one of the most photographed barrels of the island, and for good reason!   After a much needed sleep, we boarded the panga for a 20min ride out to KONG.  Steph was accompanying with her board just to watch us from outside the break (she did make the paddle back into shore...well, with a battle wound to remember the rath of the shallow reef.  After that, she stuck to the much gentler break of 2020 and was able to ride a few to make her happy).  Dropped at the point - break.  Sam could only watch and drool as the waves passed at KONG.  Paddling for waves, looking over the falls, all you would see are the rocks 5ft below surface (through the crystal green - blue water, they appeared to be just below the surface) and then "rodeo" out because it was so intimidating!  Finally, I grasped the cajones to setup in line for a set, dropped in to a wave...unbelievabe.. .pricelesss...the smiling didn't leave my face for days.  We stayed at Joyo's Surf Camp for 4 days; the facilities were nice, monkey's climbing around the bamboo and lodge, sunset deck on the beach, boat to surf, and plenty of food and beer.  We couldn't have been happier to make the choice to make our way to G-Land and surf a deserted wave, on a deserted beach, with the monkeys :)
