“I had fallen asleep with swiss chocolate and it had melted it between the back of my head and the pillow.” |
In the previous entry, I talked about going up the mountain. It was amazing, but not exactly as wild and crazy as our night was.
Now...the good stuff
Oh my. There are no words to describe the night that Kelsey and I had. The only words that come close are...."Megan and Kelsey's Wild and Crazy Swiss Extravaganza!!" Hence, that is the title of this entry.
After the mountain trip, we took a train to St. Gallen, which is the largest town close to where we were staying. We ended up eating at a swiss restaurant with 2 german guys that didn't speak any English...I made Kels use some of her German so we could attempt to communicate but the best we did was "Prost" which essentially is German for "cheers." After one beer with dinner, we decided to begin our pub crawl. We were feeling tired so we went and had a vodka/redbull at one bar and then ended up at another bar. Here is where the trouble started. The bartender convinced me to get a long island. Her long islands consisted of about 8 oz. of liquor and a teeny bit of coke. I slowly drank the first one and during this time Kels and I met some guys that spoke Spanish (my department) and German (her department). We (I) had fun trying to communicate and the Spanish bartender sort of helped us while we were lost in translation. After drinking this long island I was still totally ok because I had a huge dinner. So...I opted for another to the bartenders surprise. I said "Une otra!" and she said "Une otra???!!" and I said "Si. Give it to me baby." AFter these drinks we went to a salsa club with the guys we met, we grabbed a beer aden started dancing. It was fun but we decided we were over these guys. We decided to leave and some turkish guy followed us ( I think he was in love with me because I can say "I cant speak turkish" in turkish---big shout out to Onur, Okan, and Alex!) We tried to ditch him by going to McDonalds to go to the bathroom but the sneaky bugger found us! We just yelled bye at him and got on a train back to Gossau, where we were staying. I could tell he was devastated, lol. The pictures on my camera indicate we had a fun time on the train...all smiles. We got off the train and went to the local bar in Gossau. We met some swiss army guys and started hanging out with them. Actually, I think one might have been named Frank because I found Franks phone number in my purse the next day but we'll talk about the next day in a minute...Along with the army guys I think we made friends with everyone in the bar. At some point Kelsey thought it would be a good idea to seduce the front door guys to try to get a free beer. I don't think it worked but they liked the "crazy American girls." We continued to run around the bar making friend with everyone we could. Eventually around 3am we decided it was time to go home. However, the busses had stopped running so we had to walk. We (thought) we called Vince, the guy we were staying with but it was unsuccessful in getting us a ride. Eventually we got home and luckily the door was unlocked. We went in, I devored a loaf of bread and we both crashed out. We awoke the next day to Vince laughing about how the kitchen was destroyed with bread all over and the butter left out. We all had a laugh and kels and I found it particularly funny that his parents were there. They were just as cool as Vince. As the day continued, we came to find out that kelsey had lost her $250 camera, I had lost a shirt that was in my purse (don't worry, I still had the shirt on that I was wearing), we had lost the cell phone that Vince had given us to use, and I had fallen asleep with swiss chocolate and had melted it between the back of my head and the pillow. Also, with the phone, vince had never received a call from us the night before to come get us. The only other number in there was the swiss police and I KNOW I talked to someone...It may have been Swiss Officer Hans Ungerfeld...but he didn't give us a ride anyway so the swiss police aren't' much in Switzerland. The end of this story is Kelsey, Vince and I going to the bar to see if we had left anything there. When we walked in the bar, immediately we were recognized and people were like "Hey! WE remember you! How's it going? How are you feeling?!" Neither of us had any recollection of seeing any of these people, ever, in our lives. Great times in Switzerland.
