Arrived at Coolangatta on Friday and met up with Rachel again and also with Maureen and Jack.
On Wednesday went to Brisbane for a look around. The south Bank was really good and there was a Pagoda from the last Expo that had taken place there, together with a man made lagoon for everyone to swim in - what a great idea was that!!!
We went on the walking bridge over to the other side of the river and into the University area and then the Botanical gardens, where we did a guided tour - all the really interesting plants and trees - you all know how I like my gardens!!!
Unfortunately the weather was not the best and we got rained off going around the city itself. From the skyline it looked very similar to Sydney, but on a smaller scale.
On Thursday we went to The O'Reilly's and a walk through some bush and a tree top walk, again lots of wildlife and birds, especially wild turkeys and colourful parrots and other tiny birds. There was a great story of the O'Reilly family , where one of the family found a crashed aeroplane and rescued the two survivors after 7 days, hen the official rescuers had called off the search (they had been searching in the wrong place anyway apparently) - it was a very interesting story.
On the way back we went past Southport!!!,Surfers Paradise and other surf beaches on the Gold Coast, just to be able to say I had been there. The weather was a bit rotten to be honest.
