After what amounted to three nights of wedding celebrations, we took a much needed break and hit the road for a whirlwind tour of India.
We started in Delhi and made our way to Agra, the site of the incredible Taj Mahal. Hands down, it is one of the most breath taking buildings we've seen on the trip.
Next we headed Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan. Also known as the Pink City, Jaipur's historical city centre was built in the colour pink by the Maharaja of the time. Foul weather plagued us for our two days in Jaipur and put a little damper on the Pink City's potential.
But travelling in poor weather just made our stop in the sunny beaches of Goa region all the better. The Goa beaches were the highlight of the trip. I promised myself that I wouldn't gloat on this blog but to all our friends in Toronto living with the Canadian winter... it sucks to be you. Life in Goa was a complete reprieve from the chaos of Delhi and Mumbai. We settled into Goa's vibe with no effort at all.
Finally, we ended the tour in Varun's hometown of Bangalore. On our first night in the city, Varun took us to a restuarant called Bheema's to try some real South Indian food. A foolish overeagerness on our part had us order Bheema's chilly chicken. It was by far the most fiery, mouth numbing, vicious dish we'd ever had. Ever.
So long India, thanks for the hot and spicy memories.
