Galena is one of those little towns that have preserved the original architecture and has laws that forbid things like neon lights. There were still some of the old stone streets leading up the hills off of Main St. We stopped in for dinner and to window shop, but got distracted by a wine shop called Jackie’s. The older women at the bar were quite drunk and humerous – one asked Josh where he was from, and he said Rochester. About 10 min later, she turned to us and asked where we were from, and we said Rochester, to which she replied “OH! Someone else in here is from Rochester, I just talked to them!” We tried to explain that we were those same people, but she was convinced there was someone else there from Rochester as well.

I already miss Solera. Honestly I don’t know if we realize how great we have it – this wine bar was fine and all, but it was crowded, the wine choices weren’t great, the bartender was both too busy and not knowledgeable about wine…but we still had fun and got a recommendation for dinner. We headed down to a little pizza and pasta shop to eat and drink more wine. After we did some window shopping and picked up these really dorky little husband and wife rubber ducks. They’re now gracing our dashboard (along with the Big Fat Yeast Roll).

Back on the road, we hoped to drive as far as possible towards the Badlands in South Dakota so we can get in a good amount of exploring tomorrow!
