- Willard InterContinental, 1401 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Penn Quarter (tel. 202/628-9100; www.washington.interconti.com): The Willard provided a temporary home for a president or two and continues to be a major gathering spot for capital powermongers. This homegrown, but world-class, hotel has a fine restaurant, a historic bar, a spa, and a just-opened courtyard cafe. You'd be missing something if you didn't at least step inside, even if you're not staying here.
