Getting There -- The nearest airport is the Ronneby airport, which lies 30km (19 miles) north of Karlskrona. The Flygbuss costs 95SEK ($13/£7) per person each way, and a taxi costs 240SEK ($33/17£) each way. Transit time is 25 minutes, and bus departures are timed to coincide with the arrivals of airplanes.

Karlskrona lies on the main rail link between Stockholm and southern Sweden and points west. There are frequent trains throughout the day. Svenda Bus services the area from Stockholm (take no. 31). Both the train and the bus stations lie within a 5- to 7-minute walk of the town center. Motorists can follow E66 north from Kristianstad or the same motorway southwest from the port of Kalmar (also the same route from Stockholm farther north).

Visitor Information -- For information about the town and the area, go to the Karlskrona Tourist Office, Stortorget 2 (tel. 0455/30-34-90). In summer, hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 4pm. Off-season hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm, Saturday 10am to 1pm. Boat trips of the archipelago are often available in summer; ask at the tourist office for details.
