American Express/Atlas Travel -- Atlas is the official American Express agent in Croatia. You can buy maps, arrange accommodations, and book excursions at this office at Nepotova 4 (tel. 021/343-055). To get to Atlas from the Silver Gate, head west on Poljana Kraljice Jelene; then north on Nepotova.
ATMs -- Available all over Split, with several on the Riva.
Banks -- Many of Croatia's banks have branches in Split. Zagrebacka Bank has an office on the Riva at Obala Hrvatskog Narodnog Preporoda 10. It is open from 7:30am to 12:30pm and 2:30 to 7pm Monday through Friday.
Fire -- Call tel. 93.
Holidays -- Split Summer Festival is from mid-July through mid-August. The Split Melodies of the Adriatic Festival is in August.
Hospitals -- Firule hospital is located at Spinciceva 1 (tel. 021/556-111); it is open 24/7.
Pharmacy -- There is a pharmacy at Guduliceva 52 (tel. 021/341-190), and one at Pupaciceva 4 (tel. 021/533-188).
Police -- Split's main police station is at Trg Hrvatske Bratske Zajednice 9 (tel. 021/307-281).
Post Office -- Split's main post office is at Kralja Tomislava 9. Hours are 7am to 8pm Monday through Friday, 7am to 3pm Saturday.
