Getting There
Getting to Hochgurgl, 5km (3 miles) east of Obergurgl, requires a steep uphill transit that you can approach from the Timmelsjoch Alpine Road. Hochgurgl is so obscure that it doesn't even appear on the country's bus map. A bus provided by the hotel chairlift authority (a ski bus) makes two or three daily round-trips from Obergurgl to Hochgurgl. Round-trip fare for the 5km (3-mile) run is 6€ ($7.80), but a ski pass giving access to the local lift system gets you the ride for free. Most new arrivals avoid this bus because of their luggage, preferring instead to take one of the many taxis that make the run frequently from Obergurgl.
