Known for its lakeside promenade, Pörtschach is one of Carinthia's premier resorts. It's extremely sports-oriented, with water-skiing, sailing, riding, and golf. The resort, along Lake Wörther's north shore, is filled with many lavish villas, and a section of the town juts out on a tiny peninsula. In summer, the lakeside promenade's flower beds are a blaze of color. Southwest of the resort stands Hotel Schloss Leonstain, and there are many lovely nature walks and scenic drives in the area.
