Getting There:
By Air:
The Aeropuerto Mariscal Sucre (UIO), Quito's international airport ( +593 02 244 0080/ http://www.quitoairport.com/), provides service from the United States from Miami, Houston and New York. Flights from Europe and Australia connect through the United States.
It is recommended that you take a taxi from the airport to your destination. Taxis are relatively inexpensive here, and those leaving from the airport are exempt from metered service. It is instead customary to agree on a price before you get into the cab.
By Train:
Train travel to and from Quito has been put out of service permanently as a result of storms and mudslides, save for a small section of track between Riobamba and Alausi.
Getting Around:
Buses in Quito run frequently during the day and are very inexpensive.
Renting a car is not advised, as traffic congestion and difficult parking make car travel very inconvenient.
Taxis are relatively inexpensive and serve as an ideal way to get around the city.2008-08-02T07:29:22.000
