Where To Stay

by Wcities Travel Guides

San Jose has a wide range of accommodations for every budget, as one would expect in a city of its size and stature.

Downtown San Jose

Most of San Jose's five-star hotels are located in downtown San Jose, where you'll always be within walking distance of the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. The crown jewel of the city's luxe hotels is the Fairmont Hotel, overlooking Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park, choice of presidents and movie stars. The imposing 20-story hotel is fitted out in grand style with a lobby full of marble columns and the gently tinkling notes of a piano. Service is impeccable, and the restaurants are some of the best in the valley.

Built in the 1930s and renovated to its former luxury, the Hotel De Anza offers luxury in the best art deco style. Situated directly across the street from the Tech Museum of Innovation, the business-friendly Hilton San Jose is also a nice option for a pleasant stay.

The refurbished Crowne Plaza San Jose, across from the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, is a good bet for the business traveler at slightly less rates than those at premier downtown hostelries, as is the Doubletree Hotel. And the Ramada Limited-San Jose Convention Center (on S 2nd St, one block away from the San Jose McEnery Convention Center) is the best bet for no-frills conventioneers.

Santa Clara

In Santa Clara, the six-room Madison Street Inn is ideally located just ten minutes from the airport and 15 from downtown, with acres of landscaped gardens. Santa Clara Marriott and the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara are good choices for the business traveler with their close proximity to many hi-tech companies as well as the Santa Clara Convention Center.

San Jose West

Those needing accommodations for a week or more can find Residence Inns with locations all around Silicon Valley, as well as Oakwood Corporate Housing on S Saratoga Ave. Oakwood offers an apartment-like stay with special amenities like woks and rice steamers. The Campbell Inn in Campbell offers suites with fireplaces, Jacuzzis and more while the quaint and romantic La Hacienda Inn in Los Gatos sits alone among residential homes in a very prestigious area, a mile from downtown Los Gatos and Saratoga.

San Jose North

San Jose North features a number of hotels of all kinds to cater to whatever sort of travel brings you to the South Bay. The Holiday Inn is a good choice for business travelers as is the Courtyard by Marriott. But not all accommodations in this area are business oriented, the Briar Rose Inn is in a charming 1875 Victorian farmhouse in northeast San Jose. The Wyndham Hotel is a larger, but still nice option as well.2008-08-02T07:29:22.000 280
