We walked off the KC-10 we rode from Travis AFB, and went about looking for an ATM that dealt Yen, and for Fussa Rail station (in that order). We did this all on foot, which, combined with the 90-plus temperature and the typical Asian humidity, was not an experience we'd care to repeat.
Fortunately, finding Fussa station wasn't too much of a problem (not very far from the Yokota AB gate. So we got our tickets and hopped on the JR rail system, eventually getting to Tokyo after a number of transfers: Fussa-Tachikawa -Shinjuku-Ebisu-Hiroo, in that order.
As you'll end up reading if you go on to the other entries for this trip... it should be no surprise that I'm putting an insane effort into getting assigned to either Yokota, Misawa, or Kadena (probably in that order) when the Air Force tells me it's time to move!
