We made a quick stop in Freeport, a little town east of Galena, for an ice cream sundae at Alber Ice Cream Parlor. It was recommended in one of our travel books, and by that time both of us were ready for something sweet. We split a Banana Wheel, with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, nuts, sliced bananas, whipped cream and a cherry. Even with both of us scarfing it we couldn’t finish. Then we walked next door to this strange little pocket park comerating a debate between Lincoln and Douglass. Next stop, Galena!
