Enroute to Foz do Iguacu we hit a couple of delays and so arrived pretty late at night. We had no hostal booked and so after chatting to a couple of Americans on our flight we decided to stay at the hostal that they had booked in to. We arrived at the hostal and it was quite literally in the middle of nowhere! And I mean that! Anyway, we checked in and were shown to our room which was a dive. We told ourselves that we were only staying for one night and went to bed. The next morning we woke up to find that the hostal was actually pretty nice (outside of our room). There was a swimming pool, a chill area, a pool table and all outdoors. It was great!!!! Anyway, after breakfast, we headed to the waterfalls. They were spectacular! We´ve seen Niagra Falls, and admittedly, it´s a lot bigger and a lot grander, but Iguacu has a lot more character. There´s a lookout point right in the centre where you literally have waterfalls all around you.
That evening we headed for Argentina to see the Falls from the other side the next day. We took a taxi to a really nice hostal that the last place had recommended, only to find they were full. After wandering around for like two minutes before Yaz´s bag was too heavy, we found a dingy little hostal, and set up for the night. That night it poured with rain! For hours and hours and hours. At one point I thought the shack of a hostal was going to collapse! The next morning was dull and rainy and so we decided to skip the falls. In fact the town on the Argentinian side was so grim, we decided to leave asap and head for Buenos Aires.
Backpack status: In case anyone´s wondering why these stopped, it because I don´t want to talk about it anymore.....!
