Armacao is a beautiful beach, with fewer restaurants and development than a lot of the beaches closer to the center of Florianopolis. The bay is split into two, facing the water the right side of the bay is by far superior.
The sand is soft, the waves fun to budysurf, the scenery beautiful.
The small town near the beach is quaint. There is a party hostel that overlooks the sea and a number of smaller guesthouses as well. I highly recommend staying a couple of days here.
