Our 1st night in Florence was spent having some fantastic pasta from a place that doesnt really know if it is a cafe, restaurant, bar or supermarket. The next morning we got up bright and early so we could see some of Florences most famous attractions.
The first thing we lined up for was to see Michelangelos David. The line wasnt too bad and we were treated to a free entry somehow. Seeing David was pretty incredible and we were so glad that we had the chance to see it. Next was the Uffizi (I think) gallery. We joined the queue and stayed there for 3 hours to get in. When we got in we saw heaps of paintings (none too exciting for us). The highlight would probably be the "Birth of Venus" and "Madonna with child" x 1000.
After that we wandered through some famous market areas and David decided to look for a leather jacket. As soon as we looked interested we were swamped with the salesmen making us try on jacket after jacket and then taking offence if we didnt like THEIR jackets. We started to enjoy it after a while and began to learn the art of the haggle. In 2 minutes we had a 490 euro jacket down to 160 and 15 euro sunnies down to 5. We almost felt bad for the salesmen because they seemed so desperate for money and we seemed so good at haggling. After a couple fo hours of fun we walked away with nothing and headed home.
