Fort Lauderdale journal: Ft Lauderdale, Florida

So we came back to Ft Lauderdale, to stay at a resort. We have 3 days left of our trip.

When we got here it was already evening and we were pretty wiped out from the drive. We did check out the pool. It was very nice to get into the water and just relax after driving and getting lost on the freeways.

South Miami journal: South Miami Beach

We decided to stay in South Miami Beach the first day. Our Hotel was accross the street from the Beach. It was perfect. The first day we ate, then planted ourselves on the beautiful beach to get a tan and start our vacation. The beach was right accross from our hotel, so we wandered over to it. It had a slight breeze all afternoon, which was perfect we never really go to hot from the sun. We left just in time, after getting back to the hotel, we noticed that we were all just starting to get pink, so thank goodness no one got sun-burned.

South Miami journal: Colony Cafe

Well since it was still too early to get settled into our room we made our way down the street to look at all the different places to eat at. Each resturant had tables and chairs set up outside by the street to eat at so we ate here at the Colony Cafe. They had good food and the service was good too. We got to watch people as they went along the street and also we could see the Park accross the street. After we ate we crossed over to the beach side and looked at the different things the street venders had displayed at tables. Bought some jewelry and headed to the beach to tan ourselves!

South Miami journal: Good food, Great view

We ate here for breakfast. It was complimentary from the Beacon Hotel. We had several choices to choose from and it was a nice continental breakfast. We had a choice of yougurt, cereal, fruit, toast, bagel and cream cheese, juice, coffee or tea. We got to pick 2 things and a drink. It was plenty for us. We ate outside and got to watch what was happening at the grassy part before the beach.

Key West journal: Radisson Hotel

On May 5th of 2007 I went to Key West along with my two sister-in-laws and my friend. We stayed at the Radisson Key West for 2 nights and 3 days all for under $20.00. Grand total $19.72. When I went to pay at the front desk I took my twenty dollar bill and got back change, I was looking around and no one was there to share my excitement with. They room was spacious enough to hold the four girls and eight suitcases without us having to keep moving things. They had "Sleep Number" beds (I was a 45) this was a pretty nice feature for a hotel. My friend flew in at a different time then we did, so ...

We went snorkeling the day before we left Key West. I realized after we went that I could have used another of our cards from my Coastal Vacation package, our recreation card and we could have saved 10% off each ticket for snorkeling. Oh well next time I'll be more prepared!.

Key West journal: Southernmost Point

This is one of those things you have to do while you are here. It's a pretty spot. I would love to live right across the street, you could almost have the end of land at your front door. Located at the corner of Whitehead and South streets, the Southernmost Point in the continental United States is marked by an oversized concrete buoy. The monument sits only 90 miles from Cuba's coast and serves as a popular stop for visitors posing for a souvenir photo. Southernmost Point

Key West journal: The Southernmost House

We didn't stay the night in this guest house The Southernmost House , but we did stay the day here. For $5.00 you can lay out at their beach front area on a lounge chair, swim in their pool and look through the house. They even include one drink {Alcoholic or non}. We thought it was worth the $5.00. We ordered lunch at the outdoor bar and the food was delivered to us at our lounge chairs. This was a great way to end our trip to Key West.

Here is what the Half Shell people have to say about this restaurant.

"Set in the heart of the Historic Seaport at the Key West Bight, the Half Shell Raw Bar is an authentic Key West fish house. Once a shrimp packing building, it has stayed true to its blue-collar harbor front heritage. Fancy folks looking for fancy stuff will have to look elsewhere. No carpet on the floors. No expensive art on the walls. No air conditioning, for that matter."

The Service was nice, They weren't too busy the night we were there. We did get to see the sun set from the window of where we were sitting. ...
