New Delhi journal: Culture Shock & Baboons on Telephone Poles

Delhi is like nowehere else we have ever seen, been or experienced. When we first arrived in the airport we were greeted by what must have been more than 1,000 taxi drivers shouting whether we wanted a taxi or just hurredly writing names like Smith on a piece of paper and thrusting them at us. Im not sure whether they had forgotten to write the name on the piece of paper or whether it was a futile attempt to get our names right so we would part with our hard earned money into his pocket. Luckily we had pre-arranged airport transfer and after a nervous 15-20 minutes scanning the ever mad crowd ...

New Delhi journal: Nice House, Impressive Driveway

The Presidents house is locked away behind huge rought iron gates but is still visible, and looks impressive. The buildings before it are just as impressive and with your back to the Presidents house you can look down between fountains and onto India gate, a nice view for 5 minutes.

New Delhi journal: Beautiful Gardens & Architecture

In the style of the Sydney Opera House, the Bahai temple resembles an opening Lotus flower. Its set in stunning gardens and the inside is even more beautiful. Its a temple for all religions and they have continuous "services" in operation. The best part of it is the architecture inside.

New Delhi journal: New, Intricate and Beautiful

Its brand new, and hence the quality of the architecture, carvings etc is very high. It has extensive beautiful gardens, a museum, and brass/bronze statues in the garden of heroes, and gods, such as Shiva and Ghandi. Really beautiful but it doesn't have any history to it as yet, but good for an hour or so.

New Delhi journal: Worthwhile If You Have 5 Mins..

Although it is moving with all the names of people who died while fighting for independence or in other wars (such as with Pakistan) it wont matter too much if you miss it. Its a square collumn with huge arches and a constant flame burning in the middle. As i say it was moving but not worth going out of your way for.

New Delhi journal: Money Grabbing, But Still Very Friendly

We were in a state of culture shock when we arrived and were really nervous. We knew what we wanted to see but not how to do it. The owners calmed us down and gave us a beer or two and discussed trip options and places to go, at a reasonable price etc. Nice rooms, but very noisy as in Paharganj (sp?).

It was built before the Taj Mahal and is built in stone so it isn't as immediately stunning as the Taj but its beautiful and haunting all the same. Its set in stunning gardens and is well worth a look.

You walk up the steps to this Mosque through the enormous gates and are hit by an enormous expansive courtyard. Your enclosed in brilliant architecture and stunning views throught the arches and the main building itself is outlined by tall eloquent pillars.. Stunning.

Asia journal: Dan & Han and their Asian Adventure

Hello to everyone,

We are pretty new to this blogging lark so we are not sure how this will work for us but here goes.

This trip was a spontaneous, spur of the moment idea had by Hannah while Dan was watching the Ashes in Australia. Dan didn't take much persuasion and we went to a travel agents to investigate our possible options and came out with 6 months fully paid to tour Asia. Our route would take us to India first, then to Singapore, then Malaysia, Thailand, Laos (maybe), Cambodia, Vietnam and finally China (doubtful). I write this "introduction" already 6 weeks in, in ...
