Agia Pelagia journal: Greece Day 1

We arrived to Heraklion airport late that night, so we hopped in a taxi and made our way to our hotel. It was about a 15-20 min drive and cost 30 euros. There is a big map right by the taxi area that displays the prices for all the different areas of Crete as most of the taxis do not have meters.

The roads were very windy and the drivers are very aggressive. Unless you are going well over the speed limit you need to drive on the shoulder of the road. Im not sure what the road laws are, but everyone who was going the speed limit was driving on the side of the road.

It was very warm ...

Las Vegas journal: Viva Las Vegas

Las Vegas...not much to explain. It was our 1 year anniversary so we decided to have some fun, and watch Meg's dad in the World Series of Poker. There is so much excitement in Vegas that you really don't need to do much to have a good time. You can gamble, see shows, eat great food at many different buffets, or just walk the strip and watch some of the free shows the hotels put on right outside.

My favorite place to gamble was Ceasars Palace. It has the highest minimums on its tables, but it is by far the nicest. They have so many tables for blackjack and roulette that its hard to count. ...

Dublin journal: Day 1 in Dublin

We arrived in Dublin at 9am, we caught the early flight so that we would have a full day. Our first task was to make our way into the city, and to find our hostel. We made our way outside the terminal to where the busses were. It was going to cost 6euros for a one way ticket to get into the city, but they had a 3day rambler pass for 11euro that allowed you to use any dublinbus within 3 days. Great deal, especially for the fact that we were only there for 3 days.

The bus ride took about 20-25mins to get to our stop. Our hostel was 50feet away. We couldn't have asked for a better location ...

Dublin journal: Day 3 in Dublin

On day 3 we decided that the only thing left that we really wanted to see was the St.Patricks Cathedral. Other than that, we were going to walk around and just enjoy being in Dublin. Again we decided to take the tram. This time we only needed to go 1 zone, and it cost 2.70euros return. After we got off the tram, we still needed to walk about 4 or 5 blocks to get the the cathedral. Along the way we saw many neat buildings, as well as a lot of smaller churches.

Upon arrival at the cathedral, we noticed that the admission was 5 euros, and we did not have a lot of money left so we just ...

Dublin journal: Day 2 in Dublin

Day 2 began by making our way to the Guinness Brewery. We hopped on the tram which cost us 3euros for 2 zones, return. After we got off at the stop that we thought was the right one, we looked at the map and noticed that it was not. A local passed us and noticed that we had a map out and asked us where we were trying to go. After telling him he kindly offered to give us a lift as we got off the tram too late. He drove us right to the entrance, what a nice guy!

The admission to the brewery was a steep 14euros, but at least you get a pint of beer at the end. It is a self guided tour ...

Edinburgh journal: Day trip to Edinburgh

We woke up early because we knew there was a lot to see in 1 day in Edinburgh. Tony, Blair, Adriane, Meaghan, and I piled into our car and began our 1 hour drive from Dumbarton. It is all motorway there so its not too bad.

Our first destination in Edinburgh was of course, the castle. We parked at the base of the hill, in the designated parking lot, but we failed to notice how expensive it was. It came to £12.70 when we went to leave, maybe 5 hours later...extortionate!! So we made our way up the hill, which is about a 10-15min walk, depending on how eager you are.

Once at the top, ...

Stirling journal: Stirling Castle

With our first guests, Karin and Christy, arriving 2 days prior, we decided that it would be a good time to take in some of the sites that Scotland had to offer.

Karin, Christy, Graham(Megs' Cousin), Meaghan, and I set out in the early afternoon for Stirling Castle. It was about a 45 minute drive away, but it was through the countryside so it was very pleasant. I dont need to tell you that it was rather pricey for admission because everything over here seems to be. Needless to say we were not surprised at all that it was £8.50 a person, which is like $18 Canadian. Once you forget to ...

Glasgow journal: Back to Glasgow

Today was a long day of travel. First we were delayed leaving Vancouver for an hour due to reasons unknown. We then flew to London Heathrow, where we were on a layover for about 2 hours. We finally arrived at Glasgow after travelling for over 11 hours! We were ready for bed by the time we got back to the house.

A nice trip back to Vancouver over, and time to continue with our European Travels.

It was nice to make a trip back home to Vancouver for a few weeks. I know it is my home, but it still seemed like a trip because I was sleeping at friends and family members houses.

The weather was a bit chilly some days at it was still winter time, but I didnt get a chance to see any snowfall in the city. The mountains were another story. Seymour, Grouse, and Cyprus were all fully covered with snow, and full of skiers and snowboarders. It was a beautiful site to see all three mountains from Downtown Vancouver.

Vancouver has so many sights to see, great places to eat, and a upbeat ...

Ocho Rios journal: It's Jamaica Mon!

We arrived in Ocho Rios early in the morning, and sure enough it was another beautiful day. As we are walking along the dock from the cruise ship, sure enough, we see a catamaran called "Cool Runnings". We didn't get to go for a ride on it, but we were quite happy to just get a photo.

We began our day by going to the Dunns River Falls. Wow, if you ever go to Ocho Rios, make sure you see these falls. You rent water shoes, and you walk up the falls. They are not that tall, but there is about a mile of small, climbable water falls.

After the falls we made our way to swim with the ...

What can I say, we were only here overnight as our flight arrived the day before the cruise set sail. We stayed at the Miami Hilton, which was a very nice hotel. We were surprised by Brent and Jen as they were also coming on the cruise with us. We had a nice American Buffet dinner in the hotel, and headed to bed. The next day we woke early, got our stuff together and made our way to the Port of Miami where we boarded the amazing Carnival Cruise ship.

This was also where we met up with Brent, Jen, and a couple of their friends. They were stopping in London for the night before they made their way to Greece.

We walked from our hotel to see Buckingham Palace. I know I have said this before, but, pictures do not have the same effect as seeing with your eyes. The admission for the 5 of us was only £18 which is not too bad considering the prices everywhere else in the UK.

Once we climbed to the top we noticed that there was not much of a castle at all. ...
