San Antonio journal: San Antonio Rose

So I am home after six weeks of travel. I have SEVERAL blogs to catch up on and I promise to have them out ASAP. I just wanted you all to know that I am in the process of also uploading all my photos. If you want to look at them just click on MY PHOTOS on the right side of the page. The new ones are of Turkey but the others are coming...slowly but surely. It feels good to be home even if it is just for a little while. Even if the trip home is now just a visit rather than a permanent destination...

Athens journal: The Last Leg

So Athens was our last stop on the trip. Traci and I planned almost 3 full days there thinking we'd need that much time to see everything. I am glad we did because not only is it so hot you want to die, but The Acropolis was closed on Sunday. Had we allowed only 2 days we would have missed it. Why was it closed you ask? Oh, because the workers went on strike. Ya, just closed for the day. Open tomorrow. Wiered but so typical of Europe.

Anyway, we took a 4 hour VODAFONE ferry from Mykonos to Athens and arrived shortly after 2. Our trip had run smoothly from the beginning. No lost ...

Athens journal: Zues, Aphrodite, Athena, Hermes, Apollo, Nike, Artemis and others

The Acropolis is a must see and like Mykonos, even better the second time around. It's quite stunning during the day but at night, it's simply breath-taking. Also must see's are Temple of Zues, Hadrian's Arch, The Olympic Stadium (of 1896) and if there's time, The Poet's Sandal shop.

Mykonos journal: Not So Much

Second time for me to visit this island and the beach. By this time I as OVER it. Over the techno, over heat, over the nakedness, and over the butt cleavage (thankyou Aussies). It's hot, loud, and crowded. The only thing going was the MINISTRY of SOUND was playing that night with Dirty South and several others. Should have gone but didn't . Already regret that but oh-well...

Mykonos journal: Even Better the Second Time Around

Mykonos the second time around is even better. I visited several years ago and stayed with three friends from University. It was great, relaxing, charming and of course hot. This time it was even more charming sharing it with three girls rather than three stinky boys. ;)

Our room was right near 'Little Venice' and a short walk to the bus station. We caught a bus to Paradise Beach the second day mostly just to see what the fuss was all about. Although I already had been I told the girls it was worth seeing. 'E!" has done shows on this beach because it's known for it's party ...

Santorini journal: Oia Sunsets

Yesterday we started out hopping a bus with our new friend Jerry. Two nights ago we were out dancing and a guy asked Desaree where she was from. Naturally he replied, 'San Antonio'. Jerry was a permanent addition from that point on. He's barely 21, but traveling for 3 months on his own (kuddos).

We arrived at the port and waited for our boat to arrive. Picture Pirates of the Carribean and you'll have a pretty good idea of what our shipped looked like. While waiting for THE ADONIS, we picked up another 'stray', Alex from New Zealand. He is most definately our favorite by far and we all ...

This place is indeed, THE BEST. Yorgos (phonetically spelled) or "George" and his wife Marilyn are also the best. Rooms have A/C that work only when Kiwi's offer assistance (wink, wink Alex) but other than that it's clean with a relaxed, family style atmosphere and right on the beach.

This place is great. Clean, cener of town, and IN THE MIDDLE OF "IT", meaning, complete and utter chaos. Our view was just stunning and we even had A/C!!! A real treat. But as our Austrian friends would say, 'Two minutes only! Bad for the sinuses!"

I would recomend this place to the young or young at heart.

Ios journal: Francesco's, Austrians and Other Interesting Stories

Perhaps the only way to acurately describe a place such as Ios would be to summarize. In a word, Ios is, well, Cancun. Although I've never been, and for good reason, I can now say I have visited Europe's very own Cancun. Now I know there are other places such as Ibiza (off the coast of Spain) and Corfu (another Greek Island) both of which will give Ios a run for its money. But I also know I have skipped these islands for the same reasons I skipped Cancun in highschool and college. Somehow I found myself, however, right in the thick of it. And so this is our story of Ios...be it ever so ...

Seriously, we frequented it several times just because of it's cool factor. I have pictures and even a video that I will try to post ASAP bun the mean time picture NYC sheik. Dim lighting, central Greetian sink, large enough for 4 people to wash their hands (in a circle) with a funky chandelier hanging above. Picture unisex look with tiled floors and walls that look more that walls that have had painted randomly splashed on them in vibrant colors like yellow and orange.
