Nashville journal: Great Urban Escape

I originally went to Nashville, TN for my sister’s graduation, but I could not pass up an opportunity to check out one of the cities parks. Thus I found myself at Centennial Park on a hot and muggy afternoon. The park itself is mainly just a green space for the city of Nashville, though it does hold some interesting concrete landscape.

The first and most prominent concrete piece of art in Centennial Park is the Parthenon. It was originally built in 1897 for the Centennial Exposition, and is now an art museum for the city. Though I did not go inside to the art museum I did find the ...

Toledo journal: Oak Openings

For the last six years I sat in class hearing about the amazing landscape and the unique beauty that is known as Oak Openings Preserve. Oak Openings Preserve is a rare landscape that houses sand dunes, oak savannahs, and prairie. I do believe it is the only place in Ohio one can view a natural Prickly-pear cactus. Over 50 miles of hiking trails exist in the Oak Openings Preserve, in which I only hiked 5 miles. Even though I only hiked 5 miles of trail I was able to see all the variety of landscapes that the Preserve had to offer.

Though it was lightly raining that day the park had ...

United States journal: Spring 2007 (College Travels)

As my time in college comes to an end I am left with a feeling of sadness. I have always loved the new experiences that only college life can facilitate. This journal is going to reflect over my travels and experiences during my last semester at college. Over the last six years I have spent pursuing an advanced degree I have had numerous road trips, and hopefully this last semester holds the best road trip yet to come.

Murfreesboro journal: A very big tourist trap

Left to travel to Crater of Diamonds State Park at 2 am in order to try to get there in time to rent a campsite for the week. The travel down I-75 and the consecutive highways was uneventful with a few neat views along the way. Felt like I was lost using MapQuests directions once we were near the state park do to poorly marked roads. Ended up getting to the state park 15 minutes after they closed, but was told by one of the park rangers to just take a campsite that was available and come to pay for it in the morning.

Setup the campsite and took a look around for the first night as the ...
