Mbale journal: Avarage Hotel but good amenities like Gym and Swimming pool

Hotel Mbale
Resort was pretty OK. But as usual you'd like to watch out for some of the
things such as:

Mosquito's (I was dumb enough to see the
overhanging nets as decoration and not as nets, please do open them
and protect yourself from the mosquitoes)

Additional precaution: Apply balm/cream as
     well against protection

Rooms: Don't go for the ones on the ground
floor as they are not well maintained (scratches on the doors, cracked
mirrors...anyways see pictures there). Go for the rooms on the first
floor, they are newer. Apparently these folks ...

Back to a different room. This one has a view with balcony. I'll post some pics in the morning. In the meanwhile see what I ate tonight.

Starter: Masala Papads

Main Course: Jeera Rice, Yellow Dal Tadka and Roomali Roti

Dessert: Gulab Jamun

It was too good, its just that I stuffed myself ;-)

Mbale journal: Heading to the Mt. Elgon...

Well it was fine. Not great as you can see in the Hotel rooms. They had stacked older bedsheets in the almirahs. Really poor. The room that I first got into was dirty, carpet was soiled, a ventilator was standing in the way and the mirror was cracked (It almost could fall off).

I went back and asked for another room which I got. The food was ok although I did like the breakfast on the 31st (today thus). Lunch and dinner was avarage.

PS: I'll post the pics later, too tired from my trip back to Kampala.

Well Lira is a good town. I did take a couple of shots so do take a look at the pics. We were on an official trip. And I just didn't have time to visit the town although I did see some things on the way. Just check out the pics.

Lira journal: Pretty good actually!

This is a newly built hotel (2005). Some retired govt official spent his *hard earned* money to invest into this hotel. I liked the premises. I met couple of US Army and Consulate folks as well. These guys were traveling across the country as well. They were on a consultancy job as well.

Rooms were neat and spacious

TV (CNN, local TV)

No internet

Good food (check out my pics there later)

A rather small pool but still a swimming pool

Not bad, this is the best in Lira town so don't bother going anywhere, please!

Nairobi journal: Transit in Nairobi

We flew from Holland at around 1015 hours (GMT+1) and were in Nairobi at 1930 hours. The airport was "OK". It was not really impressive ut I guess being a transit passanger it probably was not supposed to matter. To me, I did!

I did not really like the boarding information. We were not provided with direct assistance but had to find our own way out. What can improve there?

Information provided immediately when you get of the plane.

Restaurants can better provide information of their products and goods. Like I had a coffee latte and was unsure if it was going to be good for my ...

Uganda journal: Uganda IT boooost!

This trip of mine is primarily to help several Universities in Uganda get a big shot of IT serum up the sleeve! We plan to help universities strengthen their capacities and help young Ugandans get self sufficient and totally IT equipped.

I'll be spending 2 weeks in Uganda and will be traveling across the country gathering information about several things. But definitely I am gathering a lot of impressions out here and will post about several things like:

Telecom Sector

Hotels (I'm staying in Speke hotels)

Education Sectors

Young and dynamic entrepreneurship
