Yellowstone National Park journal: The Ten Minute Stop

From Terrebonne, Oregon, we took the 26 into Wyoming. Our journey continued as we traveled up North into the Teton and Yellowstone Park. Audrey and I had planned to come here for a while now, and after much debate from the guys, we had finally arrived in front of Old Faithful. We only had to wait a total of 20 minutes before Old Faithful blew against the cloudy background before we got back in our vehicles and drove off yet again towards the Red River Gorge. The guys were shocked. Who knew we were only going ot stop for a mere few minutes since we detoured, only a few hours, so us girls could ...

Slade journal: The Cold Cold Months Climbing in the Red

Well I was super psyched to arrive in kentucky. Finally, after the long drive accross we arrived for some of the best climbing. We first started at Torrent Falls. I was a bit put off at first since there was a big crowd and seemed to be overriding everyone with their singing and loud stories of their week. After trying to ignore them I could tell they were locals, and I became a little less psyched once I saw the loacl scene. The climbing however, more than maade up for it! Only after three/four routes my arms were pumped and my body, not used to pulling on rock, was tired. I am lucky we got ...

El Paso journal: Hueco Tanks & Last Chance Canyon

Our first stop in the south west was Hueco Tanks, Texas. We had been here around the same time last year and found it to be an awesome winter bouldering destination. The weather warm, the people friendly, and beautiful surroundings. Here in the state park, you find yourself among artifacts from hundreds of years ago. The fact that we can work together with Preservationist to keep this place open to the public is crucial to the bouldering community. The are so many bouldering problems to keep most people busy for their entire lives just at this on estate park. There are few exceptional climbers ...

Terrebonne journal: Valentines Day!

We arrived the day before Valentines, so we had time to settle in to our new surroundings. We awoke on Valentines to find that it was a perfect climbing day, and at the cliff we ran into some of our friends. My shoulder was hurting, so I did not do as many pitches as I would have liked, but it was still nice to hang out and chat with people. We finished clmibing a little earlier than anticipated, so we had an afternoon hot tub session, follwed by a little trip into town to grab some necessities for the week. Once we finished gathering food, and whatever else we needed, we started getting ready ...

Parksville journal: Home for now.

We stayed at home, in Parksville for little over a month. Most of the nights were spent living at our parents homes, and visiting with family members. We did, however, occasionally sneak off to explore the beautiful island and enjoy the scenery while we were there.

Tofino, B.C., is a definite must see place if you are on the island. I have grown up two hours away and it still remains one of my favourite places to viist. The solitude, atmosphere and world class scenery make it what it is, a quiet local hang out in the winter, and an tourist attraction in the summer. We ended up staying ...

Black Hills journal: Brrr....it's cold

We woke up to find the cold weather upon us once again. We continued driving to our next destination, to visit the most touristy place in the U.S.....Mt.Rushmore.

The heads were there staring us in the face, as were the old people that were the only other tourists among us. It was kinda of neat to see, but I doubt it had the same effect on us as it does on patriotic people. After our cold stop, we drove the windy roads of the black hills, and seen the "needle". It was pretty cool, all the rock formations, and they looked great as we drove by and looked out our windows.

After we ...

Terrebonne journal: Smith Rocks

We fully enjoyed our short week in Terrebonne, Oregon. Derek managed to climb very well, as usual, and send a route his second go. I, however, just top-roped everything as I did not want my ankle to get hurt. All around the climbing was great and accomplished in the sun.

We enjoyed a free meal at the new local restaurant since we helped lay the floor down our last visit out in the spring. The food was great and it was awesome to see the finished restaurant. We met acouple friends from Canmore, and they enjoyed the area as well. Our friends that we stay with our awesome and super nice. ...
