Edinburgh is majestic, there are many adjectives to describe this wonderful place! And FREEZING has to be up there.

We met up with our fellow tour housemates; Gemma, Eugene and Mel at the Inn where we had been assigned to stay by our tour 'Haggis Adventures'.

Glasgow journal: Grand Gothic Glasgow

We did the weird thing again, were we fly into the main centre and immediately leave it to go somewhere else, this time Edinburgh then a short bus ride to Glasgow.

First impressions of Scotland:It was heart wrenching, really it is just like home, especially leaving Edinburgh airport it reminded of us of the ride from Palmy airport. Then a drive through the country side with sheep e.t.c the only difference apart form crazy looking sheep were the grand old buildings amazing castles and homes.

The weather was dismal in Glasgow but really it just added to it's Gothic nature. It really ...

This place was great, clean, old and full of character and nice families. A pity about the location a good 20-30min hike with your bag in the rain. (If you don't have money for a taxi and can't quite figure out the buses)!

Kalambaka journal: Winter?

We made our pilgrimage of four bus journeys to visit the ultimate monasteries of Meteora.
We spent the first night wandering around amazed at the sight of structures precariously built on top of gigantic rock faces.

The town we stayed in is about a 15mins by car from the monasteries.
The next morning we awoke to discover winter had arrived, we donned all possible layers, really it was freezing! Once we were out in the sleet and wind we decided a climb in the mountains was ridiculous, so now a decision had to be made would we risk staying an extra night to go up and see them or head ...

Delphi journal: To the mountains!

We managed to catch a bus on a Greek public holiday to Delphi. The centre of the ancient world. Zeus let two doves go in opposite directions, they met at Delphi and so was known as the centre of the ancient world. It is also where the oracle lived. Alexander the Great even went to pay tribute and ask for the guidance of the oracle and the vestal virgins.

Delphi is part of a huge mountain area that is absolutely stunning. We really enjoyed our relaxing stay in the mountains. Delphi has just over 2,000 inhabitants and they all seem to be friendly especially to the last tourists of the ...

Athens journal: 'Athens; The hustle and bustle of modern Greece'

We arrived in Athens late at night after a 8 hour ferry ride. The ferry ride isn't bad it's just the constant smoking which you cannot get away from even outside on deck. We managed to use the metro (underground) with some help from other tourists heading to the same backpackers and booked into our wee Aussie hostel. After a wander around and a glimpse at the Acropolis we headed home for some much needed sleep.

Day two
Today we headed straight for the main attraction! The Acropolis! How exciting.
It 's impressively huge. There aren't any informative signs up about the monument just ...

Mykonos journal: Mykonos

Well after a lovely stay in Santorini we had to move on. We managed to get a ferry form Santorini port to Mykonos. The drive down to the port was a tad scary as it was a long windy road with a speedy greek driver who spoke on the phone the whole time gesturing with his hands as we all looked down the side of the cliff.

Our ferry turned out to be a huge flash CAT! Yay.

We arrived at Mykonos and managed to get half price exquisite lodging with he Greek Aunty.
Once we were settled in we went for a wander. Mykonos was another gorgeous wee Island full of friendly inhabitants and windy ...

Brighton journal: Kitsch

We managed to get a cheap Mega Bus ticket to Brighton, and arrived after work at 10:30pm. Robbie had already organised a hostel at the Walkabout for us but we got there and the manager was out so we spent an interesting two hours in the foyer waiting only to be told NO, there aren't any rooms! So 12:30am and we were pretty pissed to be wandering around with our packs, we found the nearest place, and paid two nights including breakfast. Only one problem this place was gross. Our first room's basin was not attached at all and when I turned the tap on water started pouring out from everywhere, ...

Most of them are Sth Africans but there are some Aussies, English, German.

The underground is kinda airy its soo hot down there, but you also get this wind before the trains come some sort of wind vacuum.
Santorini journal: First Stop

Santorini was a bit of a mystery to begin with! Was this really THE DESTINATION with its very own airport? It looked like a back block rock..... but then you get to the other side of the island and look out over the edge of an ancient caldera with stunning ocean views and amazing white villas nested on the cliffs. Jaw dropping stuff. we stayed in a wee cheap place recommended by our very own dodgy island taxi driver... his name? You guessed it Nik! We managed to find a cable car that dropped (quite literally) down by the old port with a small swarm of AMERRRRICARNS off a cruise ship! YAY for ...

Santorini journal: TU MEKE

We managed to find an empty restaurant/bar with a balcony that hung out over Santorini. The sunset was amazing, it lit up the caldera with red and orange like the water was on fire. Funnily enough the bar was called 'The Sunset Bar'. There was only one other couple and an attentive owner. We had a lovely feast of Greek Pizza, stayed for two hours soaking it all in and relaxing. To be honest one of the most memorable and favourite things I have ever done, completely magic.
