Woodstock journal: River runs into Bay of Fundy

Made a trip out here when I was 12 with my parents. I remember the Bay of Fundy and the Magnetic Hill. It was such a lovely spot and I almost got the canoe off to go into the water along the highway. We spend 2 days beside the Irving Gas Station because Marshall who last delayed us at Washingtons Bridge of the Gods decided to hide.

Beloeil journal: Canada's Victoria day

Exiting the highway in Quebec and not being able to read the signs it is embarassing to end up in a French Schoolyard to turn around, especially at recess. The best I could do was to grin and wave as no-one could understand me. I waited till the Bell rang and the kids left. Reminds me of the song on the album called "Tali", line "When I went out to recess..". Anyway we got to Montreal and went to the American Embassy to file papers. We would find out later it cost us a year as the papers never were processed here.

The Highway Book Store, back on Highway 17 just south of the Highway 11B turn off, claims to have over 100,000 new and used books. This store has as many nooks and crannies and strange little passageways as the town of Cobalt did in it's heyday.

Larder Lake journal: North of Larder Lake

To get here you take the old station road off Highway 66 East of Larder. A canoe is the best as there is no roads to these Lakes. The water shed is here so the Lakes have real clean water and a breed of fish that inhabit them are unique. They dive for the bottom when caught.

Larder Lake journal: Home Town

Raven Beach Park was fun and hardly anyone here. Had purchased a red canoe on the way. It was a 14 foot from Scott's Canoe place. We still travel with it today in 2006. Saw the areas sights including the mine in Virginatown which is shut down now. It was my fathers work place from 1939 to the mid 70's. I worked there in the Mill in 1968. I saw the old theater building were it cost 25 cents to see a movie when I was growing up. I was born in nearby Kirkland Lake in 1949. Someday I hope to own my old Home. See the basement picture from 1958 and now. This red canoe had to influence me. I wrote ...

Gowganda journal: Trip to Gowganda

Gowganda is on the way to Shining Tree. On the trip here we stopped at Northern College to check for articles I had written. We found poems and short stories I'd written in "Northern Lights". Angel was impressed by my skill at writing in 72-74. We continued on to "The Tree" and saw Moose, foxes, and Buffalo. We didn't take the MH and returned to our base in Larder Lake.

The tree planting crews all come here to eat in the summer. I wonder if Cindy still runs it. The fishing and hunting stories you hear here are the BEST in Canada. My old friend (passed away) Carl Forbes practically owned Shining Tree. He was a living legend and inspired my Paddling Song. He had me at his place fall 96.

Ever passed over the 1 lane boad lock in Peterbourogh Ontario in a Motor Home? I don't suggest it in a wide body. Still I gave Angel a fit by doing it twice. The day had started with a resolve to leave Ontario in a week and go to Lake Tahoe in California. For now we were in the Bush country of Ontario. Lakes everywhere. Black flies are bad but weather is lovely. Stayed overnight with friends whom I'd stayed with in Shining Tree. The Gunthers.

We were adjusting to full timing quickly. Angel found out hanging her clothes would cause the wall to fall off. Bungies became our most useful tool. Oak Creek was special to us as here we were looking for a job as entertainers around town. First we did Branson Fest and then we got a 5 week job, paid great money to represent Canada in WorldFest99.

Here is where I wrote Canadian Celtic Cowboy the song that became the title of an ...

More than 1 exit in Rawlins. Angel behind me got tired and because it got dark decided to turn off, behind me! Well I waited and even pulled over two vans thinking it was her. I had lost my wife. Still after almost "cracking up" as I had no way to find her, I calmed down, got those unproductive feelings under control. I turned around and luckily she had parked on an overpass and I found her. Gas was 85.9 cents a gallon. Now in 2006.. $2.69

Aurora journal: My Wife and the Mare.

While I was driving today and Angel following me I was doing my "regular thing" which was listening to music. She did something I didn't expect and when she did it was significant and impacted me dramatically.
Brigham City journal: What are Ley Lines?

Weather excellent but icy patch bothers Angel in her 85 Mini Ram Van Dodge. This patch was where 86 turns into 84 to go south towards Salt lake. Angel claims the Ley Lines affect her. These are magnetic lines through the atmosphere and hills. Stayed in room 242.

Seattle journal: So excited couldn't sleep.

The unexpected 2 day stay caused by Marshall our cat (we had two to begin our trip) 2 Males Dusty the other, made us miss a snow storm in the mountains. Stayed in Wahkeena. Felt like a GOD married to an Angel. It was our Honeymoon at the Bridge of the Gods.

Vancouver journal: Leaving Canada

This was one birthday I'll never forget. No it wasn't memorable for it's birthday party, pinning the tail on the donkey or birthday cake, and it certainly was hard work. The memories will always be potent and the recollections will be one of the great gifts that any man, no matter how rich strives for. Love and Loyalty. We crossed the American border in our vehicles. Mine the Dodge Ram with a pop-up camper was to be our Home until a miracle happened. We needed one and we needed gigs. We had neither except this home that was no larger than a big closet.
