Its Friday 7th July and there has been much frantic packing. I have been careful to supervise the loading of the necessary victuals to sustain myself and my brother Angus through our adventure.

Bedding (Tartan of course), leads, collars, new name badges in case we get lost in French on one side and Spanish on the other. FOOD. Biscuits, tick remover, hairbrush, toothbrush (well doesn’t everyone pack such essentials? Even a dog wants to look his best!) and of course our pet passports..otherwise we are going nowhere.

Who the hecks Angus I hear you say…he’s my brother! And of course although he can be a pest ..he has come along too. Many say he is cuter than me (utter rubbish of course!)

I’ve had a busy night running around my garden chasing the pesky hedgehog who frequents my patch. I suspect he will abuse his access to all areas pass in my absence so I just wanted him to know that I may be gone a wee while but its still my garden.

There seems to be rather a lot to go into our car, thankfully it’s a Landrover Discovery so we should just about get it all in. I have spied a baby seat and buggy being loaded as well. I understand this is for use when 4 year old granddaughter Mia who arrives to join us for the week at our villa in Spain. I only hope nothing of mine has been sacrificed to accommodate such items!

Anyway first stop is perhaps the least exciting part of our trip..Ashford..The Holiday Inn. They welcome dogs apparently so just watch this space .

The dogometer will work on bone ratings:

1 bone = poor not very welcoming for canines

2 bones = ok , just about tolerated us

3 bones = very welcoming ~ made a fuss of us

4 bones = The dog’s delight

The other thing I am rather looking forward to is the football world cup final on Sunday..vive le france as they say…well we should be in Pau in SW France by then..so I hope to promote the spirit of entente cordiale and cheer on the French as I reckon there will be some partying if they win! I’m no mean footballer myself and have been likened to one Wayne Rooney…without the temper of course. Thought I would add a photo to show myself with the ball.
