Canoe's cuisine is exceptional, and the setting is divine -- a picturesque spot on the Chattahoochee River, surrounded by heavenly gardens. The interior is ultra-upscale boathouse, with polished wood, classy fabrics, and fun, sophisticated metalwork (wrought-iron kudzu vines trail through the dining room). The canoe motif is everywhere; there's even a canoe-shaped phone booth.The menu is American with Asian accents. Roasted rabbit spring rolls with fig barbecue glaze make a great start to dinner. The pastas and risottos are innovative, to say the least. If it's available, try the slow-roasted rabbit with Swiss chard, country-bacon ravioli, and candied-garlic glaze. Any of the fish are good, but for a regional dish with a twist, try the seared Carolina trout with citrus/brown-butter sauce. The excellent wine list is encyclopedic, and even includes a few organic options. If the weather is good, ask for a table on the large, canopied patio.
