Finding a good Japanese restaurant outside of Japan is getting easier these days but it is much more difficult to find something unique. For those visiting Japan, who are interested in trying some truly local fare this is the place. Gokura serves specialties from Akita prefecture. Try it out, and see if you can taste the difference. Up in Akita, the winters can get cold, and that is why nabe (Japanese stew) is the specialty at this restaurant. It is usually a simple and refreshingly healthy affair consisting of a simple broth, fish, meat, vegetables and tofu are added.
