Popular with celebrities and politicians, this atmospheric National Historic Landmark is the city's premier steakhouse, and has been for the last 103 years. The restaurant's original tiger-oak back-bar is still in operation, and the decor is straight out of 1940s Chicago, with mahogany paneling and a tin ceiling; the ultraprofessional waiters even wear tuxedos. Start with the shrimp cocktail and then wash down your juicy prime rib or filet mignon with a selection from the award-winning 20,000-bottle wine cellar. Note: The congenial atmosphere is too boisterous for a romantic meal, so if you want a quiet evening out, this isn't the right pick.
