More information on Bilbo Baggins Global Restaurant
Named for the title character in The Hobbit, this charming two-story restaurant offers fresh homemade fare. The downstairs has rustic wide-plank floors, wood-paneled walls, oak tables, and a brick oven centerpiece. Upstairs is another dining room with stained glass windows. It adjoins a skylit wine bar with windows overlooking Queen Street treetops. Candlelit at night, it becomes even cozier. The menu changes daily to reflect seasonal specialties. At dinner, you'll enjoy entrees such as a wasabi salmon filet with a ragout of fresh asparagus and wild mushrooms, and chicken breast spiced up by an andouille sausage and jalapeño jack cheese stuffing. An extensive wine list is available (more than 30 boutique wines are offered by the glass and another 150 by the bottle). Homemade desserts like steamed white-chocolate bread pudding topped with whipped cream provide a delightful finish. Lighter and less expensive fare is available in the bar. Directions
The Dash bus has 2 stops on Fairfax Street near the intersection of Queen St. The restaurant is located on Queen St. between Fairfax and Lee Streets. There are 2 metro stops in Alexandria that will get you within 15-17 blocks of the restaurant. The metro stops are King St. or Braddock Road. From there its just a quick cab ride or nice walk.
