The Clay Tandoor Ofen, used in India to ensure that food does not lose its flavor whilst it simmers is the contraption that lends its name to this popular restaurant in Karlstadt. One feels a bit like the showpiece sitting in the glass-front of the restaurant, but this is quickly forgotten once faced with masterfully prepared dishes, lavishly flavored with the spices of the subcontinent. Those who have not yet had the chance to sample food cooked in a clay oven, might be wise to consider the Tandoor Platter (poultry, lamb and beef) for EUR18. The selection of different stews are also very good, made with lamb, chicken or vegetables (EUR10-EUR20). For a really authentic Indian experience, tea or beer compliments your meal.
