Former saxophonist Philippe Nicolet's bustling bistro draws an eclectic crowd after his budget-friendly homey French cooking. Despite its size, the restaurant is usually packed. Stressed waiters thrust themselves through impossibly small gaps between tables, leaving the odd bruised diner. Definitely a place with attitude, L'Echalotte's carnival atmosphere appeals to those who like to talk loudly and a lot. This restaurant offers a boisterous flea-market atmosphere, with lots of comings and goings. The larger of the two rooms is recommended; nevertheless, both rooms are somewhat stuffy. Casual attire is advised as food and smoke odours may marinate your clothes.
