This impressive Tudor estate (built in 1902) is sumptuously appointed, the common spaces filled with European antiques, Persian carpets, and even a baby grand. Throughout the brick manor house you'll find works from the modern-art collection amassed by the inn's owners, Albert and Georgette Levis. The guest rooms are divided among the main house and several outbuildings of various vintages, sizes, and styles. In the outbuildings, my favorite unit is spacious room 24, with a private deck with views of Mount Equinox and quirky outdoor sculptures. Three rooms have fireplaces; the units in the mansion lack TVs. One note: The inn hosts weddings virtually every weekend in summer, so travelers looking for quiet are best off booking midweek.
