If you're prepared to travel a little bit out of the city centre to dine, the Island Gate is certainly well worth the journey. The decor is traditional, the emphasis here is placed on providing patrons with good food in a relaxed informal atmosphere. The friendly staff are well-informed and it's often wise to heed their advice with regard to "what's hot and what's not". The menu is broad ranging: the steak and seafood specials are both popular choices, while vegetarians are well-catered for too.
