High on atmosphere and prime on location, Les Fous de la Place attracts a smart city crowd with a secondary interest in matters culinary. This is just as well. While the menu can loosely be described as "imaginative," the cuisine often fails to rise above the predictable. Fortunately, the décor, a friendly waiting staff and late opening hours manage to sway the overall verdict. Book-lined walls, tasseled drapes, slender crimson couches and candlelit tables add to the charm here. Les Fous de la Place belongs to the same group as L'Opéra Bouffe and Le Triporteur.
