A neighborhood staple dating back to 1935, Mary's is one of those friendly, casual restaurant that still dot some of St. Louis' older working-class neighborhoods. Drawing a mix of patrons, this spot serves plain, well-prepared food and has a complete lack of pretension as well as an easy familiarity. Do not look for anything exotic. There are roast beef dinners, breaded pork chops, fried catfish, a couple of steaks and jack salmon. If you feel brave, you can try a brain sandwich, another old St. Louis specialty still found in a few South Side taverns/restaurants.Takeaway available.
