A beautifully restored, attractively appointed farm restaurant in a Cape Dutch House situated on Spier Wine Estate, this winelands resort is well worth visiting. Jonkershuis is decorated with rich wood, warm colours and attractive paintings, creating a welcoming atmosphere. A vast spread of starters on a central buffet table is so tempting and abundant that many forget to allow room for the hot selection, simmering gently in a bain-marie nearby. One can sample from a wide range of Cape fare, from snoek and pumpkin fritters to classic bobotie, Cape malay curries and divine puddings. The extensive wine list covers the best of every range. From Tuesdays to Saturday it is open from 9 am.
