Featured in the Eat Out Editor's Top Ten, this smart-casual restaurant is among Cape Town's elite eateries. Located in a gracious old building in trendy Tamboerskloof, the Blue Danube's menu reflects the owners' Austrian heritage, but also does some haute cuisine globetrotting. Business lunches are catered for, and the menu is diet-friendly.Food Type: The French-Austrian menu includes delights like a springbok fillet with wild mushroom sauce in puff pastry, duck liver parfait with smoked duck breast, and Austrian classics like deep-fired prawns in strudel. There is a large range of Cape wines and a select choice of imports.Decor: Located in a double-storey Victorian house, the Blue Danube has two interleading dining rooms and an enclosed terrace with fabulous views of Table Mountain. The royal-blue walls, white drapes and central fireplace, make for an exclusive, yet very cosy, atmosphere.
