More information on Haxenhaus zum Rheingarten
This restaurant started out as a home for the sailors and dates back to the 13th century. Beer, schnapps and the home-made sausages have been served here through the ages. The place has a typical Medieval ambiance and is beautiful in its own way. Actors perform in costumes of the Middle Ages, as you enjoy a feast with peasants and monks. Real carnivores can order a Grillhaxe, leg of lamb or pork and foodies can experiment with the season's specialties served in generous portions. In summer you can sit outside and enjoy a view of the Rhine. Groups can book in advance to get a picture of what life must have been like 500 years ago at the harbor in Cologne.
